19th Century Trades Festival
September 22, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 2:30 pm
Come on out to Travellers Rest for our annual Trades Festival! Step back in time to 200 plus years ago and watch history come alive through the work of over thirty talented artisans and re-enactors. Converse with a Civil War surgeon, or learn the art of soap making…maybe even discover what a flintknapper does! Period demonstrators and re-enactors include blacksmithing, basket weaving, spinning, weaving, civil war and frontier life plus much, much more. A wealth of hands-on activities await such as clothes warshin’, thaumatropes, rolling hoops, quill pen writing, doll making, candle dipping, corn grinding and perhaps a few surprises. Picnic lunches are welcome…so you can sit for a spell or visit with us all day! Come on out and experience Nashville’s oldest historic house where everyday is alive with history! The event will take place on Tuesday, Sept 22 and Wednesday, Sept 23 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Historic Travellers Rest Plantation.
Registration required for school groups. Contact Tonya Staggs at tonya@travellersrestplantation.org or (615) 832-8197 x15.
