Classes for Children in Spring Hill

ALTERED ART
A new art class called “Altered Art” will be offered on Wednesdays in August from 9:00am-9:45am in the art room at the Longview Recreation Center. Kids ages 3 and up are invited to explore their artistic talents using various techniques, materials and mediums to create a different piece of art each week. Altered art will meet each Wednesday in August (6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th) from 9:00am-9:45am. Each class requires a separate registration and the fee is $5 per class.  BACK-TO-SCHOOL HOMEWORK MESSAGE BOARD
Kids age 5 and up can show off their homework, leave reminders or post bulletins and photos on their very own personalized message board. Participants will add their own personal touches to a combination dry erase/cork message board with paints, stickers and other embellishments. The Back-to-School message board class will be offered Wednesday, August 6th from 6:00pm-6:45pm OR Friday, August 8th from 10:00am-10:45am. The class fee is $5 and pre-registration is required by calling the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, (615)302-0971, ext. 10.
 
 BACK-TO-SCHOOL CANVAS BACKPACKS

Get ready for back-to-school by designing a personal backpack. Participants in this art class will use a variety of fabric paints and embellishments to decorate a plain white 9” x 14” drawstring backpack. The class is for kids age 8 and older and will meet Wednesday, August 6th from 7:00pm-7:45pm. Cost:$5. Class size is limited, so register early by calling the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, (615)302-0971, ext. 10.
 
PARATES DEL CUERPO (PARTS OF THE BODY)
Parates del cuerpo is ashort course Spanish program for children that focuses on learning the Spanish words for the parts of the body! The Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive, invites kids ages 3-7 to learn the names of the names of the parts of the body (arms, legs, hands and feet) and the face (eyes, nose, ears, mouth, teeth) while having a ton of fun with songs, games, and puppets. Children will also learn to count their fingers in Spanish as well as a Spanish version of the hokey-pokey. Parates del cuerpo will meet on Thursdays, August 7th – August 28th, from 6:00pm-6:35pm. The class fee is $40. The instructor will be Angelique St. Clair, and registration is required by calling (615)302-0971, ext. 10.
