City of Franklin Wins “Excellence in Financial Reporting” from GFOA
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) is pleased to announce that City of Franklin has achieved “Excellence in Financial Reporting” for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). This is the 20th consecutive year the City has won this award! The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“Achieving this award over the last 20 years is a substantial accomplishment for our Finance team,” said Assistant City Administrator for Finance and Administration, Russ Truell. “I give credit to our Leadership team over all our departments in City government. This is an award that requires we all work together to successfully accomplish transparency and accuracy in oruss truell 2013ur financial reporting.”
In other news, Truell, has been appointed as a new member-at-large of the Executive Board. Truell will serve a three-year term beginning immediately.
The GFOA is a major professional association servicing the needs of more than 17,800 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners. It provides top quality publications, training programs, services, and product designed to enhance the skills and performance of those responsible for government finance policy and management. The association is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, with offices in Washington, D.C.
Earlier this year the City of Franklin received the “Distinguished Budget Presentation” award for the fifth consecutive year.
