THE BATTLE OF FRANKLIN TRUST TO HOST TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY
Teachers receive free admission to tour Carter House and Carnton
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Battle of Franklin Trust will host a Teacher Appreciation Day on August 17 for all current educators and school staff. Teachers will receive free admission to Carter House and Carnton Classic House tours.
“Teacher Appreciation Days grants us the opportunity to thank our educators,” said Eric A. Jacobson, CEO of The Battle of Franklin Trust. “Teachers serve as an important role in our community telling the stories of Franklin and America’s past. They inspire students to take an interest in history and dig deeper to learn the entire story of the Civil War and the Battle ofFranklin.”
Carter House and surrounding grounds allow students and other guests to experience the historical significance of the Battle of Franklin through the perspective of the Carter family and their enslaved people. At Carnton, visitors and school groups can explore and understand the history of the battle through the McGavock family whose home was used as a field hospital for the Confederate wounded soldiers.
Carter House and Carnton are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tours are offered throughout the day with the last one beginning at 4 p.m. Each tour lasts approximately one hour.
