New Hope Academy Friends and Family
New Hope Academy celebrated its thirteenth year giving underprivileged children the chance for a brighter future at Tuesday’s Evening of Hope banquet held at the Embassy Suites in Cool Springs. Guests gathered to hear numerous Mission Accomplished stories and get a glimpse of the expanding vision of New Hope for the years to come.
Each of the 420 attendees had the opportunity to join the life-changing work of New Hope as they invested in its scholarship fund for low-income elementary school students. New Hope Academy reserves half of its 220 seats for children from under-served families. At the evening’s close more than $80,000 was raised, making a significant contribution toward the $1.1 million necessary to fully fund New Hope’s financial aid program.
Like many non-profits, New Hope has experienced a significant decline in giving. “In years past, we would have expected this event to raise almost twice as much as it did on Tuesday. There is no question that we are in the midst of challenging economic times. The conditions give us the opportunity to do what many of our low-income students must do on a daily basis – deepen our faith, exercise extraordinary creativity, and trust that God is the one who provides for all our needs,” said New Hope Headmaster Stuart Tutler.
New Hope second graders were recently asked what it means to have hope. They answer in unison, “Hope means that you believe that things can be better.” Mr. Tutler went on to say, “While we can’t do much to fix the economy, as individuals, each of us has the power to contribute, if only in small ways. We find that our donors experience a dramatic sense of peace and gratitude when they offer hope to our students. Giving and serving those less fortunate are powerful antidotes to fear and uncertainty. Now, more than ever, is the time to give.”
“Even with the difficult economic conditions, we are filled with hope and excitement when we think about the future, and the future of our students. God is at work at New Hope Academy. Our students are literally being set free from the limitations of generational poverty and racial division, and launched into a brilliant future with the vision and practical tools they need to become all they are made to be. Hope is on the move,” said Mr. Tutler.

NEW HOPE ACADEMY opened its doors in 1996 when a Williamson County church became the catalyst for lasting change in the low-income neighborhoods of Franklin, Tennessee. Here, elementary school children and families of all races, economic brackets, and cultures learn, love, and live together in an environment that extends acceptance, hope, and an exceptional faith-based education to every child. New Hope Academy reserves 50 percent of its seats for low-income children, and raises more than $1,000,000 annually to provide scholarships to those students.
