Special Olympics
BrightStone adults “brought home the gold”—or actually, the blue, red and gold ribbons—from the Special Olympics hosted on Friday, April 25th at Centennial High School.
18 adults from BrightStone participated in a variety of competitions such as track and field events and bocce. Many parents and friends gathered at the event to enjoy the day, celebrate the accomplishments, and cheer for the athletes.
“Our adults look forward to this event each year! It gives many of them a chance to connect with old friends, demonstrate their accomplishments and have fun together,” said Dru Victory, Program Coordinator at BrightStone.
“They work together not only to prepare for the events, but also to prepare the banner for the opening ceremony; for instance, our banner for this year included a torch drawn by Barbi Duell and included handprints and work by several other students.”
BrightStone provides a comprehensive work, social support, and future residential community for adults with special needs, expanding their potential and helping them develop mentally, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
