Char Restaurant Still Planned for Franklin, Now Targeting 2026 Opening
Char Restaurant, the modern Southern steakhouse from 4Top Hospitality, remains planned for Franklin and is now targeting a 2026 opening at Canteen on Carothers in the Cool Springs area. The restaurant was previously expected to open in late 2025.
The Franklin location will mark the fifth Char Restaurant overall and the brand’s second location in the Nashville metro area, following its longtime Green Hills restaurant.
Char Franklin is expected to occupy approximately 6,500 square feet and seat around 215 guests, with a dining room, bar, private dining space, and patio. The space is designed to reflect the warm, polished atmosphere Char is known for while accommodating business lunches, dinners, brunch service, and special occasions.
Founded in Jackson, Mississippi, in 2001, Char specializes in USDA Prime and Choice steaks, fresh seafood, shareable Southern-style sides, and a weekday meat-and-three lunch option. The menu is complemented by classic cocktails, an extensive wine and bourbon selection, and a signature piano bar featuring live jazz in partnership with the Nashville Jazz Workshop.
Char will join a growing lineup of dining, retail, and lifestyle tenants at Canteen on Carothers, a development designed to create a walkable gathering place for dining, entertainment, and community events in Franklin’s Cool Springs corridor.
