Matthew West to Headline 2025 Franklin Christmas Tree Lighting On December 5, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Franklin—The City of Franklin is excited to light up the square on Friday, December 5th, for the 2025 Christmas Tree Lighting on the Square, one of the best tree lighting events in Middle Tennessee!
Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) and United Communications are the presenting sponsors for the 2025 Franklin Tree Lighting Ceremony and are also providing the free photos with Santa. Integrated Production Solutions (IPS), based in Franklin, is the production team for this event and is also a sponsor. Williamson Health is offering another fun photo opportunity on the square!
Our headliner, Matthew West, just released a new album, Come Home for Christmas, centered on themes of faith, family and togetherness, the record reminds listeners of what truly matters during the holidays. Matthew has notched 38 No.1 songs combined as an artist and songwriter and has been awarded RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications. West has won numerous awards including a five-time GRAMMY nominee, NSAI’s 2022 & 2025 Songwriter-Artist of the Year, ASCAP’s 2023 Golden Note Award recipient, ASCAP’s Songwriter of the Year recipient, and a multiple ASCAP Christian Music Songwriter/Artist of the Year winner. West also received a Primetime Emmy® Award nomination for Original Music & Lyrics for the title track for the feature film “The Heart of Christmas.”
The Freedom Intermediate School choir, led by Director Candace Adams, will return this year to sing holiday favorites.
For the second year, Sister Cities of Franklin and Williamson County will host their Christkindlmarkt at the Five Points Post Office from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. The event will feature music, craft booths and food trucks. This event celebrates the sister city relationship with Bad Soden, Germany.
The Shine Your Light singers from the Ray of Light Foundation will also provide caroling before and after the main stage performance. There will be kettle corn and hot beverages for sale on the Square. The Franklin Noon Rotary will hand out a limited number of free refreshments from the City of Franklin.

The Franklin Art Scene will also have the Art Crawl that night happening in many stores from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
The festivities, including photos with Santa, begin at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. Performances will start at 6:40 p.m. We expect to light the tree at 7:15 p.m.
