Franklin Sanitation to Accept Glass Recycling

Residents Can Drop off Glass at Century Court Location, With More Locations Coming Soon!

Franklin, TN –Exciting developments are underway in Franklin as the City announces the launch of a new glass recycling program starting Monday, September 8, 2025. The new recycling program will initially be located within the footprint of the City’s BOPAE (Batteries, Oil, Paint, Anti-freeze, and Electronics) collection operation at 417 Century Court. The operating hours will be the same as BOPAE, Monday-Thursday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon. Plans are already in motion to expand drop-off locations for glass and cardboard to other convenient sites across the City, including parks and fire stations.

City Administrator Eric Stuckey expressed his enthusiasm for the program and praised the work of the Sanitation and Environmental Services Team. “This new program not only enhances our recycling capabilities but also saves the department money and generates some additional revenue. Our SES team under the leadership of Nate Ridley has worked diligently to improve efficiency and sustainability of our services to the community.”

The program will be managed by contractor Recycle Service LLC, which will provide and maintain a 30-yard roll-off container on-site for storing and handling the recycled glass. To ensure efficiency, a self-sustained camera system will be installed to monitor the service needs of the roll-off container. The recycled glass must be free of contaminants, including but not limited to, borosilicate glass, ceramics, and household trash. Recycle Services will purchase the recycled glass from the City of Franklin at a rate of $10 per ton.

This initiative complements the City’s existing curbside services and offers residents additional options for recycling glass and larger amounts of cardboard. By embracing this program, Franklin is paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future.
