City of Franklin to Unveil New Public Art on Harlinsdale Bridge

FRANKLIN, TN – The City of Franklin invites the public to a special unveiling ceremony for the first permanent artwork commissioned for the Harlinsdale Farm Pedestrian Bridge. This new installation will be revealed on July 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pedestrian Bridge at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm, 331 Franklin Rd., Franklin, TN.  The installation will mark a vibrant addition to the beautiful bridge.

Highlights of the Ceremony:

  • Unveiling of artist-designed panels celebrating the farm’s rich equestrian legacy and natural beauty.
  • Remarks from Franklin Mayor Ken Moore, members of the Public Arts Commission, and the talented artist, Michael McLaughlin.
  • Opportunity to walk the bridge and view the art up close.

About the Bridge & Artwork:

  • The pedestrian bridge spans the Harpeth River, connecting the Chestnut Bend neighborhood, Bicentennial Park, Franklin High School, and Harlinsdale Park.
  • The 220‑foot-long, 12‑foot-wide structure was completed in May 2024 thanks to a $4.4 million investment, including $3.2 million from the Transportation Alternative Program through TDOT.
  • The bridge hosts the first-ever permanent public art commissioned by the Franklin Public Arts Commission, comprising four 2.5 ft by 5 ft panels crafted to be waterproof and flood-resistant.

Artist Vision:
The commissioned artwork nods to Harlinsdale’s equestrian heritage—once home to legendary Tennessee Walking Horses such as Midnight Sun—and reflects the region’s history, community, and natural beauty.

We look forward to celebrating this beautiful milestone with the community!
