Franklin Launches New Cardboard Recycling Drop-Off Service for Residents

Citizens can bring cardboard to Sanitation BOPAE location

Franklin, TN — The City of Franklin’s Sanitation and Environmental Services Department is expanding recycling options with the launch of a new cardboard drop-off service beginning July 21, 2025.

Franklin residents may drop off flattened cardboard boxes at the City’s BOPAE (Batteries, Oil, Paint, Anti-Freeze, Electronics) Recycling location, 417 Century Court. This new program offers an alternative option for large or numerous cardboard items that cannot fit inside a Blue Bin recycling container, available at a convenient location.

Drop-Off Guidelines:

  • Franklin residents only.
  • All cardboard must be flattened before it is recycled.
  • Insert cardboard only through the designated side slot (do not use the top opening).
  • No contaminated materials (no food waste, trash, or plastic).
  • Check-in required—please notify the on-site attendant before unloading.

Operating Hours:

  • Monday–Thursday: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 1st Saturday of each month: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Residents must follow all guidelines to ensure safe, efficient recycling. The City is exploring the possibility of introducing a glass recycling option at this location in the future.
