The Friends of the Brentwood Library (FOBL) is announcing the largest single donation in its 48 years of service: a one-time gift of $200,000 to the John P. Holt Brentwood Library. This significant contribution underscores the Friends’ resolute commitment to enhancing the library and supporting the Brentwood community.
Founded in 1976, FOBL is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the library’s mission. Through fundraising efforts, volunteer work, and community events, FOBL plays a crucial role in ensuring the library remains a vibrant hub of learning and community.
The Brentwood Library offers a wealth of resources that fosters education, creativity, and personal growth. From an extensive collection of books and digital media to educational programs and community events, the library is a vital resource for residents of all ages. Along with funding from the 2017 John P. Holt bequest, FOBL’s latest donation will help the library with planned capital renovations, including $50,000 for the Friends Gathering Room and $150,000 to complete a redesign of its Teen Space.
“We are incredibly proud to support the Brentwood Library with this historic donation,” said Tricia Allison, president of the Friends of the Brentwood Library. “Our library is more than just a place to borrow books; it’s the cornerstone of our community and offers endless opportunities for learning and connection. We hope this gift will help the library continue to thrive for years to come.”
The Friends of the Brentwood Library invites the community to join its members in celebrating this milestone and to continue supporting the library through volunteerism, donations, and advocacy.
