Ascend Federal Credit Union Announces Retirement of Chief Human Resources Officer Peggy Stubblefield

Longtime credit union employee celebrates retirement after decades of service
Franklin, Tenn., May 28, 2025 – Ascend Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union in Middle Tennessee, today announced the retirement of Chief Human Resources Officer Peggy Stubblefield. Stubblefield concludes an impressive career in Tullahoma with Ascend that lasted for more than four decades.
Stubblefield began her Ascend career in 1982 as a certificate clerk and steadily advanced through roles of increasing responsibility in the Human Resource Department before being promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer in 2014. During her time with the credit union, her lasting dedication to promoting a positive work culture, implementing effective talent management practices, and driving diversity and inclusion initiatives has proven a true asset to the Ascend team.

Recently, Stubblefield’s contributions to her department played a pivotal role in Ascend receiving prominent recognition for training and employee development among the nation’s elite organizations. Under her leadership, the credit union earned the distinction of being named a recipient of the Training Magazine’s MVP award for the 11th straight year, ranking an impressive 9th nationally. Additionally, Ascend has been recognized by American Banker as one of the top 70 best credit unions to work for in the United States for nine consecutive years, further illustrating the strong, positive workplace culture Stubblefield helped to cultivate throughout her tenure. Over the course of her service, she continuously demonstrated exemplary leadership in developing and implementing innovative HR strategies, which significantly contributed to Ascend’s continued growth and success.
Stubblefield’s last day with Ascend will be Wednesday, May 28.
