One of three locations, the historic house—seriously, it’s been there since 1904—and its charming red doors welcome guests from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Coffee House serves breakfast and lunch all day, alongside signature lattes, fresh brewed coffee, and baked goods. Even if coffee isn’t your thing, stop in for a tea or a fun beverage in the home-style, friendly neighborhood cafe.

Stay Active at The Crag
Looking to stay active this winter? Beat the seasonal blues by getting in a fun, adventurous workout at The Crag, Franklin’s indoor climbing gym, recently expanded to offer over 5,000 feet of climbing and new terrain. If you don’t have a membership, affordable single day passes are available for $16 if you have your own equipment or $22 if you need to rent climbing shoes and a harness. Hours of operation vary: The Crag is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Weekend hours are Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Fitness classes, such as yoga and strength training, are also available for members and non-members of all skill levels.

Get Lost in Stories at Landmark Booksellers
For a comforting, story saturated afternoon, find your perfect winter read at Landmark Booksellers, Franklin’s beautiful local bookstore owned and operated by Joel and Carol Tomlin. Wander through the town’s oldest commercial building, circa 1808, surrounded by over 35,000 books. Landmark has something for every kind of reader, from new fiction and classic titles to rare first-editions. Recently, the store has established “The Great Wall of Franklin,” a chronologically arranged shelf showcasing some of humanity’s most influential works of literature. Landmark also supports local authorsby offering them the chance to sell their work on site through the proper protocol. The store is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Showtime at The Franklin Theater
If movies or shows are more your speed, the iconic Franklin Theater is the perfect place to spend a relaxing and romantic afternoon in the heart of Downtown Franklin. The historic theater, established in 1937, is also a perfect place to see live entertainment; check out their event calendar for upcoming events and performances, from concerts to local theater. The Franklin Theater’s box office is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dinner and Drinks at Frothy Monkey
Hungry after a long day of exploring Franklin? For a warm and cozy dinner, head over to Frothy Monkey. Franklin’s charming downtown location, just a hop away from the main square, was the first Frothy Monkey established outside of Nashville. Though they do serve an excellent cup of coffee, don’t miss out on their delicious dinner menu. Starting at 4 p.m. the cafe—open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.—serves gourmet dinner and signature cocktails. As an added bonus, every Wednesday night Frothy Monkey offers “Wine Down Wednesdays.” For $18, you could get a wine flight and a personal charcuterie board, or get $4 off your entree with your wine order.
