AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY DISCOVERY BALL HONORS KEY LEADERS IN NASHVILLE COMMUNITY

A celebration of progress in the fight against cancer and fundraiser to support the local Hope Lodge

NASHVILLE, TN – The American Cancer Society Discovery Ball, presented by Cigna, will be held November 4, 2022, at The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. This distinguished event begins at 6:00 p.m. and will bring together the community for a memorable evening featuring live entertainment, food and drinks, live and silent auction, and much more.

All funds raised through the Discovery Ball support our local Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge, which provides a free place to stay for cancer patients and their caregivers that travel to Nashville for treatment.

This year, the Discovery Ball will recognize three honorees during the evening’s program. The Tennessee Titans will be recognized as our Corporate Honoree for their multi-faceted partnership with the Society, especially around their efforts to further cancer prevention. As our Community Honoree, Meharry Medical College will be recognized for their continued pursuit to advance diversity in cancer research.

Our Individual Honoree is Clea Shearer, Co-founder of The Home Edit. As Clea continues along her personal breast cancer journey, she uses her platform to raise critical awareness and inspire others to take action.

“We are delighted to recognize these incredible community leaders at our upcoming Discovery Ball. Each of these honorees have helped lead the fight for a world without cancer in their own unique way,” says Lindsey Langley- Liboreiro, Executive Director of the American Cancer Society.

Also joining us for this special evening are key corporate sponsors who are helping to advance our lifesaving work. We are proud to feature Cigna as our Presenting Sponsor and Bridgestone as our Mission Sponsor.

“Like most people in the world, I’ve been impacted by cancer, having lost both my father and father-in-law to the disease,” said Dave Smith, president of eviCore, a subsidiary of Cigna Corporation. “Across the Cigna enterprise, we

work every day to make sure that patients with cancer—and other disease—have access to the care they need. By partnering with the American Cancer Society, Cigna is proud to help people living with cancer focus on their journey of healing.”

You, too, can join us on this journey of hope. To learn more about the Discovery Ball and how you can become involved, visit nashdiscoveryball.org or contact Kelly Jamerson at (601) 506-4040 or kelly.jamerson@cancer.org.
