NEW ARTS PROGRAMS OFFERED AT THE LONGVIEW RECREATION CENTER AT SPRING HILL

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department (WCPR) is happy to offer a new youth theatre program and an oil painting class at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive.

Musical Theatre Experience Program – Theatre 102
Due to the popularity of the Musical Theatre Experience (MTE) program’s Theatre 101 class, a new Theatre 102 class has been added. Under the direction of Julia Nolan with Center Stage Entertainment, the Theatre 102 class offers a different combination of acting, improve, choreography and theatre crafts in a new 90 minute, weekly session. During the course of this program, young actors in grades Kindergarten through 5th Grade will develop and hone their acting skills and confidence performing scenes and monologues; increase their dancing skills learning contemporary and standard styles of choreography often used in musical theatre productions; and explore the fundamentals of improvisation like creative thinking, listening, support, brainstorming, team building and communication. A new, five week session will be held at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive, on Mondays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. April 19-May 17, 2021. The session costs $130 per student; plus a $25 supply fee.

Bob Ross Certified Oil Painting Classes

Experience the “Joy of Painting” with Bob Ross Certified Instructor, Quintin Burlingame as he leads students, ages 13 and up, through the wet-on-wet method of oil painting made famous by this legendary artist. Whether new to painting or an expert, all will enjoy learning the techniques in one of these 3-hour class which will culminate in a beautiful 12×16 painting. Available classes include:

  • Saturday, May 22 – Tropical Seascape – 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Cost is $60 per person and includes all materials.

Advanced registration is required for all programs, and class sizes are limited to meet social distancing requirements.
