Stars to Fill Main Stage

Nine days of star-studded entertainment await you on the main stage at the 2008 Williamson County Fair presented by Tractor Supply Company, August 1st – 9th at the Williamson County Ag Expo Park. The 2008 main stage is presented by Williamson Medical Center.

Put on your Hawaiian shirt and sing along as The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show Band, A1A, kicks off the fair with a high-energy, family show on opening night, August 1st, at 8:00pm.  A1A features rocking arrangements, steel drums and exquisite harmonies that will make you want to join the Conga line and dance the night away. The Jimmy Buffett Tribute concert is included in the regular general admission to the fair.

If Elvis is more your style, don’t miss Graceland’s Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist, Shawn Klush presented by Tenn. Contractors, Inc. with special guests the legendary Jordanaires, The Fabulous Ambassadors and Elvis’s drummer, D.J. Fontana on Saturday, August 2nd, at 7:00pm.  With his bell bottoms, sequins and sideburns, Klush is said to be the “closest thing to the King in concert,” starring in the Las Vegas hit show “Legends in Concert” and winning the World’s Best Elvis Entertainer award. Four-year-old local Elvis-phenomenon, Payton Maddox of Thompson’s Station will make a special appearance during the concert, performing two Elvis songs in cooperation with the management of Shawn Klush. Payton began showing a special interest in Elvis soon after this 3rd birthday and now delights audiences with his devotion to “The King.”  Tickets to the Elvis Tribute show are $15 and include admission to the fair and free parking. Tickets are available through the fair website and at the main gate of the fair.

On Sunday, August 3rd, the Fox Brothers bring their unique blend of Christian Country Music and comedy to the main stage at 7:00pm. Winners of multiple CCMA awards including Entertainers of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year, the brotherly antics and family harmonies of the Fox Brothers are sure–fire, family entertainment. Admittance is included for free with paid general admission to the fair.

The rich tradition of the southern gospel quartet takes center stage on Wednesday, August 6th, at 7:00pm with Legacy Five; winners of over 50 fan awards including, Recording of the Year, two Dove award nominations and Favorite Male Quartet honors. This group presents gospel music in a way that has endeared them to audiences all across the United States and Canada.  The show is included with regular general admission to the fair.

Grand Ole Country Night, a fair favorite, is back on Thursday, August 7th, at 7:00pm and is also included with the fair general admission price. Jeanne Pruett will emcee the star-studded show which will feature Grand Ole Opry regulars Miss Jeannie Seely and Jimmy C. Newman, along with comedian and impressionist Johnny Counterfit, the Grand Ole Opry staff band, back-up singers and square dancers.

Then Pam Tillis, CMA Female Vocalist of the Year and the Hometown Celebrity Host for the 2008 Williamson County Fair will take the stage on Friday, August 8th, at 7:00pm. A true child of Nashville, this Grand Ole Opry member has topped the singles chart time and again with her unique twist on the classic country style of her childhood. And finally on Saturday, August 9th, Tennessee Commerce Bank sponsors Patriot Day at the fair, and the main stage will feature patriotic tribute performances by the Williamson County Community Band at 10:00am and 2:00pm. At noon, the fair is proud to present the Taylor Ware yodeling contest. This local, hometown celebrity is the Yahoo! Yodel Nation Champion, and currently works with the internet company in promoting their “Yahoo!7 bring the Yahoo! Yodel back-down under to Australia” program. Then rounding out the day, the award-winning Tune Town Show Chorus performs at 7:00pm followed by the Music City Chorus.
