Pull-Tight Players Brings Political Satire to Franklin with “The Outsider” Opening October 4th
Peek inside the chaotic inner workings of government in the side-splitting comedy The Outsider, coming to Pull-Tight Players this October – just in time for election season. With a blend of humor and insight, The Outsider promises to leave audiences entertained while cleverly highlighting the quirks of democracy in action.
Opening in 2015 under its original title, A Real Lulu, The Outsider is a timely political satire that pokes fun at modern-day politics with a mixture of zaniness and heart. Set in the governor’s office of a small state, The Outsider opens after a local scandal has caused the governor and his entire staff to resign in disgrace. His Lieutenant Governor, the nerdy Ned Newley, is unwittingly thrust into the spotlight. While Ned has, for years, been the brains behind the operation, public speaking terrifies him, and his disaster of a swearing-in ceremony goes viral. Luckily, he has a cracker-jack team of motivated and talented political pundits who are determined to keep Ned in office.
Director Sarah Kieffner, last seen directing The Play That Goes Wrong at Pull-Tight in 2022, loves how “of the moment” this play is, and has “been blown away by her talented cast of comic actors”. The cast includes Chelsea Ranelle, Rachel Sinclair, and Chad Stem (all recently seen in Pull-Tight’s She Loves Me), as well as Pull-Tight veterans Aleah Christian, Dan Kassis, Jon Kieffner, and JT Landry.
The Outsider, by Paul Slade Smith, is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing.
Show dates are October 4-6, 9-13, and 16-19. Tickets go on sale on Monday, September 23rd at 10 am and can be purchased online at www.pull-tight.com (while supplies last).
