The Northcutt Difference: Ongoing Education

The Northcutt Difference: Ongoing Education

It may be your mouth and your teeth, but at the end of the day, it’s really about your health.

“Taking care of your teeth is a very important to your overall health,” says Sara Northcutt, DDS. “And it’s something that we take very seriously. Staying on top of the latest trends in dental care is critical to our ability to offer comprehensive service and top-notch care to our patients. The more we know, the more we can share with our patients and the better decisions and choices we can make together.”

Dr. Northcutt, the principal behind Sara B. Northcutt Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, places a premium on doctor-patient relationships. She says it’s critical for her and her staff to listen to their patients and to keep them informed.

“Between myself, Hadiel Mutlak, DDS, and Leah Gordon Lee, DDS, we really value our relationships with our patients,” Dr. Northcutt explains. “We believe in showing patients their own X-rays and intra-oral camera pictures, so that they can have a better understanding of what is taking place. We believe it’s important to be inclusive with information about our patients’ health. And the more we know, the better informed our patients can be.”

Continuing education is a vital component for the dentists and hygienists at Northcutt Dentistry. Each month, they participate in Nashville Dental Society meetings, and every few months, they attend national conferences in keeping with state and federal regulations. In fact, this month they are going to The Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting in Atlanta.

Sara B. Northcutt Family & Cosmetic Dentistry“The Hinman conference in Atlanta is one of the best dental educational conferences in the South,” Dr. Northcutt explains. “Each year, we come back with a lot of new information — things that we wouldn’t know if we weren’t there.”

Continuing education is a vital component to Northcutt Dentistry’s practice and patient care.

“The technology is changing pretty quickly,” Dr. Northcutt says. “We’re learning improved techniques for just about all aspects of our practice on a regular basis. We wouldn’t know about many of these changes if we didn’t make it a point to stay informed and educated — by attending conferences, lectures, and researching on our own.

“Looking at the big picture, it’s really about providing the best care for our patients. We want them to benefit from what we’re learning. It makes a difference in their lives.”
