Mayoral Debate and Alderman Speech

Mayoral Debate and Alderman Speech

Six neighborhoods have come together on the west side of Franklin to push for infrastructure initiatives that they believe have not been prioritized by the City of Franklin – initiatives both past and present.

Under the name West Side Coalition, www.wscoalition.com, the participating communities believe that a unified voice will expedite infrastructure progress for projects such as Mack Hatcher’s extension and the widening of Hillsboro road at strategic locations.

The Coalition, which was unofficially formed in the spring of 2007, is also positioning itself to drive voter participation in the October (and future) elections for board of mayor and aldermen seats. The Coalition itself will not endorse any single candidate, but will instead push for residents to participate in the election process.

To ensure that the residents of West Franklin are given every opportunity to learn more about the candidates, the West Side Coalition is hosting a mayoral debate and alderman “meet and speech” on Thursday, September 27th at Westhaven’s Residents’ Club.

The event will begin at 6:00 p.m., with the aldermen candidates speaking from 6:30 to 7:30 and the mayoral debate beginning at 7:30 and running until 8:30.  The final half hour will give attendees and opportunity to ask questions one-on-one with the candidates.

Members of the Coalition include Founders Pointe, Franklin Green, Spencer Hall, Willow Springs, Chestnut Bend, and Westhaven. The Coalition welcomes any and all neighborhoods that wish to become actively involved in open and consistent dialogue with the City of Franklin and Williamson County elected officials. West Side Coalition members will also be asked to encourage voter participation in future elections.
