  • JUST ANNOUNCED: Featuring the Nashville Symphony Chorus, Voices of Spring: A Celebration of Women in Song will take place Sunday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Part of the Nashville Symphony’s 19th Amendment Centennial Celebration, this choral extravaganza will take listeners on a journey through the diverse experiences of womanhood, as expressed through the unique perspectives of eight different composers, from the early 20th century to the present day. Tickets go on sale to the public starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 7. Learn more here. 
  • Tickets are available for the Nashville Symphony Crescendo Club’s Wine & Woodwinds, taking place from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, at City Winery. This unique event will feature a performance by Nashville Symphony oboist Titus Underwood, clarinetist Katherine Kohler and bassoonist Julia Harguindey, with curated pairings chosen by City Winery’s winemaker Robert Kowal. Tickets are $50 for the general public and $40 for Crescendo Club members, with proceeds supporting the Symphony’s educational and artistic mission. Learn more here.
  • Country music ensemble Runaway June has been announced as the featured entertainer for the 2020 Symphony Fashion Show, taking place on Tuesday, April 14, at Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Appalachian Spring

8 p.m. Friday & Saturday, March 6 & 7

Members of the Nashville Symphony’s brass section will be featured in a live recording of Pulitzer Prize- and GRAMMY®-winning composer Jennifer Higdon’s Low Brass Concerto. Also on the program are Hovhaness’ Symphony No. 2 “Mysterious Mountain,” Villa Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 2 and Copland’s iconic Appalachian Spring, one of the defining works of the 20th century.

Concert Update: Brad Warnaar’s Cornet Concerto will no longer be performed on this program. Please update all event listings with this repertoire change.

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, legendary Irish raconteur Tomáseen Foley takes you to the Emerald Isle during this musical extravaganza celebrating all things Irish, with beloved tunes, lively dancing and traditional Celtic instruments.

A lively St. Paddy’s Party precedes each concert, with Guinness and Jameson Irish Whiskey at the bars, step-dancing and emerald-green lighting in the Schermerhorn’s Main Lobby.

Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony

This powerhouse program opens with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral,” before the Nashville Symphony & Chorus join forces for Latin GRAMMY®-winning composer Gabriela Lena Frank’s Conquest Requiem. To be recorded live for forthcoming release on Naxos, Frank’s vividly imagined work adapts texts in Nahuatl, Spanish and Latin to explore the conquest of the New World through the experiences of the Nahua woman Malinche.

It’s a Boogie Wonderland, as four spectacular singers and dancers and the Nashville Symphony celebrate the great disco hits of the ’70s, with orchestrations written and arranged by Principal Pops Conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez.

Arrive early in your favorite disco attire for a pre-show party in the Schermerhorn lobby, including a DJ, disco ball extravaganza and more surprises.

 

The GRAMMY® Award-winning Nashville Symphony has earned an international reputation for its innovative programming and its commitment to performing, recording and commissioning works by America’s leading composers. The Nashville Symphony has released more than 30 recordings on Naxos, which have received 24 GRAMMY® nominations and 13 GRAMMY® Awards, making it one of the most active recording orchestras in the country. The orchestra has also released recordings on Decca, Deutsche Grammophon and New West Records, among other labels. With more than 140 performances annually, the orchestra offers a broad range of classical, pops and jazz, and children’s concerts, while its extensive education and community engagement programs reached 45,000 children and adults during the 2018/19 season.
