Legacy Ball 2009

Legacy Ball 2009

The Williamson County Child Advocacy Center (WCCAC) has set the date for the fourth annual Legacy Ball on Saturday, April 18, 2009, from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Embassy Suites Hotel at Cool Springs.  Money raised at the gala, which includes cocktails, dinner and dancing, will fund services provided by the WCCAC.

Established in 2000, the Child Advocacy Center works to combat child abuse by coordinating services to child abuse victims and their families in crisis and by providing community education focused on prevention and early intervention.  WCCAC serves the 21st Judicial District including Hickman, Lewis, Perry and Williamson Counties.

In the eight years WCCAC has been open, “We’ve treated over 1,100 children, more than 800 of them live in Williamson County. The overall statistics are staggering,” says Brenda Davis, WCCAC director. “One out of four girls and one out of six boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18. While we spend most of our time helping these young victims heal emotionally, our passion is to prevent child abuse by educating parents and caregivers in the community.

The 2009 Legacy Ball “Buttons and Bows” theme supports the agency’s mission of providing community education focused on prevention and early intervention. The story of the button is a part of the agency’s campaign to reinforce the concept to children that they are not alone when faced with abuse.  Every child served by WCCAC selects a button to be placed in a jar. One button. One child. More than 1,107 buttons rest in the bottom of the jar.

Legacy Ball tickets are $95 per person. WCCAC is seeking corporate sponsors, table sponsors, program advertisers and donations of cash or items for the Silent Auction.
