Fun Classes for Kids

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of ongoing children’s classes at the Franklin Recreation Complex, located at 1120 Hillsboro Road. WCPRD is a public organization, here to benefit the community. No membership is required. Anyone can register for and participate in our classes – even if you don’t have a facility pass. TAE KWON DO-MPact Martial Arts
People of any age and physical condition may participate in this Martial Arts program. Instructor Eric Melton says, “Parents will find that self defense, attention to detail and increased confidence and self-esteem are the most important results of their child’s association with Tae Kwon Do.”
Kid’s classes are as follows from January 6-27 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road:
(Ages 4-5) Wednesdays, 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
(Ages 6-13) Wednesdays, 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
(Ages 14 and Up) Wednesdays, 5:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

ROCK, RHYTHM & ROLL- Drum Lessons
Learn to play the drums in this complete course. Lessons will be given on a real drum set, plus participants will learn to read and write drum music, all 26 American and 40 international rudiments, the role of a drummer in a working band and drum theory. Aids in development of school bands. Classes are 30-minutes each, with four weeks in a session. Call now to reserve your lesson time slot. Maximum of 2 students per time slot. For ages 5 and up. Course fee: $60. Supply fee: $20 for sticks and practice pad, payable to instructor. Meets Wednesdays, January 6-27. Thirty-minute sessions from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road, 790-5719, ext. 10.
PIANO
Kids ages 6 and older can learn to play the piano with private lessons at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road. Classes are set up as 4-week sessions for beginners to advanced players. Music theory is also included in the lessons. Call in advance to select a 30-minute time slot. Piano lessons are offered on Fridays, January 8-29 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $70 for four lessons. Call to register: 790-5719, ext. 10. Instructor: Hannah Shipp.
