FRANKLIN, Tenn. — September 2026 — Friends of Franklin Parks will host Ride Smart Franklin on Tuesday, September 29, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the historic Hayes House at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm.
The free, all-ages community event will bring together local cycling and transportation experts for an approachable conversation about how residents can ride more safely and confidently throughout Franklin.
Friends of Franklin Parks is hosting the event in partnership with Pedego Franklin, with a panel featuring Kem and Bob Harris, owners of Pedego Franklin; Max Baker, Multi-Modal Coordinator for the City of Franklin; and Ned Dannenberg, President of the Bike Walk Franklin Committee.
“Franklin’s parks, trails and roads are shared spaces, and education is an important part of making them safer and more enjoyable for everyone,” said Torrey Barnhill, Executive Director of Friends of Franklin Parks. “Ride Smart Franklin is an opportunity to bring our community together, ask questions and hear practical advice directly from people who understand cycling and transportation in our community.”
The evening will begin from 4:30 to 5 p.m. with cookies, lemonade and community connection, giving attendees an opportunity to meet the panelists and connect with other local riders.
From 5 to 6:30 p.m., Ride Smart Franklin will feature a moderated Panel Q&A covering topics relevant to riders of all ages and experience levels. The conversation will include bike etiquette and sharing roads and paths, e-bike safety and responsible riding, safe places to ride, navigating traffic and intersections, parking lot awareness, safety considerations for children, local rules of the road and other practical tips for riding throughout Franklin and the surrounding area.
