February Fun at the Hillsboro/Leiper’s Fork Community Center

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation’s Hillsboro-Leiper’s Fork Community Center hosts a variety of classes and programs for participants of all ages! Come see what you’re missing!

 

Erica Hardee teaches “TumbleWeeds”, a gymnastics program for Pre-K and Elementary-age kids. Classes are offered on Mondays from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.  Cost is $52.00 per month with a sibling discount price of $38.00 per month for each additional child. Registration is required by calling Erica at 715-3958.      

Instructor Suzi Ambar-Worrell brings Yoga to the center on Fridays, February 1^st through 29^th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Teens and adults can enjoy muscle stretching, toning and strengthening for all sizes, shapes and levels of fitness! Cost is $65.00 per person for 5 weeks. Registration is required by calling the instructor at 799-0813.

The fun and creative Noah’s Ark Workshop for kids ages 3-12 introduces “Bear Hugs Valentines Workshop” on Saturday, February 9^th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Participants choose a Hugs Bear, stuff it by hand, dress it and name it. These “Stuff-N-Fluff” creations will even get a personalized birth certificate!  Cost is $15.00 with a $5-$15.00 supply fee, depending on materials used. For more information visit www.noahparty.com. Youths ages 9-12 can experience “Sewing for Soldiers” in the American Girl Sewing class on Friday, February 15^th from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Instructor Suzanne Marley guides budding crafters through the basics of machine sewing as they make pillow cases for our wounded soldiers. Cost for the class is $25.00 with a $5.00 supply fee. Please be sure to bring your own sewing machine and basic sewing supplies like scissors, thread, measuring tape and pins. Also, have mom test-drive the machine to make sure it’s working properly. Registration is required by calling 790-5719, ext. 20.

Make a fashion statement with Nancie Roark’s “Wire Working with Beads for Beginners” jewelry workshop offered on Saturday, February 16^th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. An experienced jewelry-making instructor and silversmith, Nancie guides adult participants in learning how to use specialty hand tools, wire, beads, glass and embellishments to make stunning one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. Cost is $60.00 for the workshop with a $25.00 supply fee. For more information, contact the instructor at 498-8984 or email her at nanroar@aol.com. Registration for this class is required by calling 790-5719, ext. 20.

Learn “How To Get Thousands of Dollars for Your Child’s Education” in this free class offered by Jonathan Pagano and Michael King on Thursday, February 21^st from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Parents of college-bound teens will receive the nine best kept secrets of the college financial aid system, how to qualify for scholarships, grants and low-interest loans… even if you make $150,000 or more annually. Registration is required by calling the instructors at 370-8015.
