Culinary Arts Competition

Calling all cooks ages 8 to 98 . . . Is your pound cake famous? Do people rave about your homemade jam? Are you known for your mouth-watering barbecue?  Then join in the fun and enter the culinary contests at the 2008 Williamson County Fair presented by Tractor Supply, August 1-9 at the Williamson County Ag Expo Park.

In the canned goods division, first, second and third place prizes will be awarded for the best canned vegetables, pickles, fruits, jams, jellies and preserves; plus a special gift basket category.  The baked goods category features Grandma’s Cookie Jar sponsored by Martha White, and a Kids in the Kitchen competition sponsored by Pampered Chef.

Entries in the cakes, cookies, pies, breads and candy contests will be sold after each day’s contests. Points will be given for each entry and each award. On the last day of the fair, bragging rights will be up for grabs as Williamson County’s Champion Cook is named and contestants with the highest points will divide the money from the sale of baked goods.

If barbecue is your specialty, fire up your cookers for the Wilson Herbert Barbecue Cookoff on August 2nd with competitions in the ribs ($1000 first prize), chicken ($1000 first prize) and “anything goes” ($500 first prize) categories.

Registration information and rules about all culinary events are in the fair premium catalogue available at the Ag Expo Park, the Williamson County Mayor’s office, County Recreation Centers and the Williamson County Public Library and community branches.
