Children’s Cowboy Event

The Franklin Theatre will host a children’s cowboy and cowgirl extravaganza at a Saturday morning kid’s movie event on August 24. The historic venue will open its doors at 9 am. and The Cowboy Cowgirl Show-Up festivities will include a screening of a Hopalong Cassidy movie “Leather Burners”, an appearance by the Franklin Rodeo Cowboys, giveaways, photos and a costume competition.

The Theatre, whose marquee first illuminated Main Street in 1937, said it focuses on children-oriented events each year in order to give back to its community supporters.

“The Saturday Kid’s movie has become a fun weekend tradition for many children and their families,” said Dolly Chandler, program director at the Theatre. “The Theatre is nostalgic for many people and we love that we are continuing to be a part of the memories that families are building.”

The cowboy-themed film will begin at 10 a.m. and doors will open at 9 a.m. Children should come dressed in their western attire, and a prize will be to the best cowboy and cowgirl costume. Prior to the movie, the Franklin Rodeo Cowboys will conduct a lasso demonstration on stage.

As always, movie tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the Theatre box office or online at www.franklintheatre.com.
