BATTLE OF FRANKLIN TRUST ANNOUNCES MCLEMORE HOUSE EXTENDED HOURS

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Battle of Franklin Trust is pleased to announce their latest partnership with the African American Heritage Society to staff and interpret the McLemore House Museum. This partnership will extend the hours of the museum from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday through Saturday.

“The Board of Directors of The Battle of Franklin Trust is pleased and excited to strengthen our cooperation with The African-American Heritage Society through the McLemore House Museum,” says Gary Rosenthal, board chair. “We are confident that our mutual commitment to historical preservation, interpretation and education will help us champion the broader story of those whose voices need to be heard.”

This partnership enables collaboration and unity as groups research and interpret Williamson County History and tell a complete story. The African-American Heritage Society views their commitment to the museum to promote cultural and historical preservation, encourage tourism, create family legacies, and educate the public about the rich black heritage of Franklin and Williamson County.

“The Board of Directors and founding board members of the African American Heritage Society of Williamson are excited and encouraged by the partnership agreement with the Battle of Franklin Trust to manage the tours for the McLemore House Museum,” says Alma McLemore, president of the African American Heritage Society. “It will allow more hours for the museum to be open as well as enable a better opportunity to tell the complete story by providing more marketing tools and generating more awareness of the great treasure we have here in Franklin. The days of calling founder Mary Mills for tours are over (her home phone was listed to call for tours) and she is very happy about that!”

The McLemore House Museum is located on 446 Eleventh Ave. in Franklin, TN. Tour tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6 to 15 and children under 5 are free. Group tours are available by appointment only. For more information, please visit www.boft.org/mclemore-house. For more information about the Battle of Franklin Trust, visit www.boft.org.
