Art and Space and Pinkerton Park in Franklin

The City of Franklin Parks Department unveiled two new additions to Pinkerton Park this week.  The first is the culmination of work that was created earlier this year at the first annual Franklin Kids Arts Festival Tennessee.   Thirteen students who submitted artwork for the mural were selected.  The mural is a compilation of several renderings under the theme “Franklin, past, present and future.”  The mural was then drawn on an 8 x 8 piece of plywood and then cut into six inch squares for hundreds of kids to participate in painting the mural for its permanent installation under the foot bridge at Pinkerton Park.

“This is a great beginning to get more local art in our Parks,” said Parks Director Lisa Clayton.  “Our team did a wonderful job at the first annual Kids Arts Festival of Tennessee, and so many kids came out for the event.  This is a wonderful way to showcase the creative talent we have in Williamson County and Franklin.  Special thanks to Valspar for sponsoring the mural installation and Kids Arts Festival of Tennessee.”

The second addition is a 12 feet tall Kompan Spacenet.  The hexagonal Spacenet offers compact bouncy climbing for many users at once.  Kids both young and old can balance and work their way to the top and down, around and through the mesh work of the net. Children can build up their arm, core and leg strength.  The Spacenet replaces some older playground equipment in the park.
