NEW ART CLASSES FOR ADULTS
AT THE LONGVIEW RECREATION CENTER
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department announces a variety of new art classes for adults at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. CREATIVE WIRE JEWELRY
Learn to twist, bend, wrap, hammer and crochet wire to create jewelry with the use of simple tools, wire beads and stained glass pieces. Students will learn the fundamentals of wire working to create beautiful earrings, pendants, bracelets and chains. This class for teens and adults will meet Monday, February 9th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The class fee is $15. The supply fee is $10-$15 based on your choice of projects. INTRODUCTORY KNITTING
Interested in learning to knit? In this class, students will learn how to master the two basic stitches used in knitting projects, the knit and the purl. Then, students will knit their own button hole scarf using Fun Fur yarn in their choice of colors. Students need to bring size 13 (9mm) knitting needles as well as 2 balls of Fun Fur yarn in contrasting colors. Intro to Knitting will meet on Tuesdays, February 10th – March 3rd from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. All ages are welcome. The course fee is $40. ONE SENTENCE MEMOIR WRITING, JOURNALING, ALTERED BOOK WORKSHOP
Writing and visualization exercises will be conducted to help participants create a one sentence memoir. Using the one sentence as a reference, participants will then begin journaling and creating altered book pages in a used book of their choice. Participants will complete their one sentence memoir and at least six pages of their altered art book during this six-week course. This class will meet on Tuesdays, February 10th – March 17th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. This class is for teens 14+ and adults. The cost is $60 for the 6-week class, and the supply fee is $15. INTRODUCTION TO MOSAICS
Learn to make a beautiful mosaic mirror. Students will learn the basics of mosaics including picking a base; adhesives; choosing and cutting glass and tile; design and grouting of a final project. “Intro to Mosaics” is a 5-week class, meeting on Thursdays, February 12th – March 12th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. The course fee is $75 plus a supply fee of $20. LOOM KNITTING
In this class, participants of all ages will learn to knit an attractive ribbon scarf using round looms which can then be used to create dozens of projects! Students will need to bring their own supplies to class, and a supply list will be provided upon registration.
