Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC) has launched a new Adopt-A-Garden program that allows individuals and businesses to support pollinator gardens across Middle Tennessee, including four gardens in Williamson County.
Since 2021, TEC has worked with community partners and volunteers to establish 70 pollinator gardens throughout Middle Tennessee, providing habitat for native bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, beetles, and other pollinators.
The new Adopt-A-Garden program is designed to help fund the ongoing care and maintenance of those spaces while giving residents and businesses a direct way to support individual gardens.

How Adopt-A-Garden Works
Through the program, individuals and businesses can adopt a garden and help fund the ongoing care needed to keep pollinator habitats healthy and accessible to the communities they serve. Adopters can have their name or logo added to the garden’s webpage unless they prefer to remain anonymous.
TEC maintains an interactive map of participating gardens throughout Middle Tennessee, allowing supporters to choose a specific garden and contribute toward its professional maintenance and stewardship.
Recurring monthly or quarterly donors also receive TEC’s Pollinator Garden Monthly Guide, a PDF with year-round maintenance tips and seasonal educational information.
TEC also plans to add monitoring and volunteer opportunities connected with individual gardens.

Williamson County Pollinator Gardens

About Tennessee Environmental Council
Tennessee Environmental Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1970. The organization works to involve Tennesseans in environmental stewardship through programs centered on habitat, waste reduction, waterways, trees, and other environmental projects.
TEC organizes its work around three broad goals: creating thriving habitats, supporting a circular economy, and working toward climate balance in Tennessee.
Its programs include creating pollinator habitat, protecting waterways, organizing litter cleanups and recycling events, and promoting composting. TEC also organizes Tennessee Tree Day, an annual statewide program that distributes native trees for residents to plant. Since the initiative began in 2007, more than 100,000 participants have planted more than one million native trees across Tennessee.

More Ways to Get Involved With TEC
Adopt-A-Garden is one of several ways residents can participate in Tennessee Environmental Council programs. TEC offers volunteer opportunities throughout the year in communities across Tennessee, with projects that can include pollinator garden maintenance, litter and park cleanups, watershed restoration, tree planting, seed packing, and Recycling Roundups. Other ways to get involved include joining longer-term environmental programs or volunteering as a group.
You can find current volunteer opportunities and upcoming events on TEC’s Volunteer Page.
