➢ The Nashville Symphony is accepting applications for the next class of Accelerando, an intensive music education program designed to prepare gifted young students of diverse ethnic backgrounds for pursuing music at the collegiate level and beyond. Students currently in grades 4-9 may apply through February 14, 2020. An informational meeting for prospective applicants and their parents will be held on Thursday, January 30, from 7-8 p.m. at Casa Azafrán (2195 Nolensville Pike, Nashville). ➢ The Nashville Symphony’s annual Let Freedom Sing concert, celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the civil rights movement, will take place on Sunday, January 19, at 7 p.m. The 27th edition of the event will feature the Nashville Symphony, Celebration Chorus, Celebration Youth Chorus and special guests, as well as pre-concert presentations and exhibits by the National Museum of African American Music, the Nashville Public Library’s Civil Rights Room, WPLN’s Versify podcast and Choral Arts Link.

The Nashville Symphony and a star-studded lineup of guest artists — including Jamey Johnnson, Chris Scruggs and The War and Treaty — honor the lifelong love and legacy of Boudleaux and Felice Bryant with some of the couple’s most memorable songs (“Rocky Top,” “Bye Bye Love,” “Wake Up Little Susie” and more) and the world premiere of Boudleaux’s steel guitar showcase Polynesian Suite.

The GRAMMY® Award-winning Nashville Symphony has earned an international reputation for its innovative programming and its commitment to performing, recording and commissioning works by America’s leading composers. The Nashville Symphony has released more than 30 recordings on Naxos, which have received 24 GRAMMY® nominations and 13 GRAMMY® Awards, making it one of the most active recording orchestras in the country. The orchestra has also released recordings on Decca, Deutsche Grammophon and New West Records, among other labels. With more than 140 performances annually, the orchestra offers a broad range of classical, pops and jazz, and children’s concerts, while its extensive education and community engagement programs reached 45,000 children and adults during the 2018/19 season.
