THE NASHVILLE-BASED NON-PROFIT HOPES TO RAISE $60,000 BY NEW YEAR’S EVE FOR MEALS IN 2020

NASHVILLE, TENN (DECEMBER 03, 2019) On any given night in Nashville there are thousands experiencing a state of being unhoused. Every Monday night for more than a decade, non-profit organization People Loving Nashville has brought a wholesome meal, a refreshing drink, clothing and emergency supplies to some of the most vulnerable of Music City. It is during this holiday season and on #GivingTuesday that People Loving Nashville is striving to raise $60,000 by New Year’s Eve to provide meals and emergency supplies in 2020. For PLN to meet the needs of the community every week, the cost is two dollars for food and drink. In 2019, the group fed 26,000 people and are geared up to feed and clothe that number and beyond in 2020.
“We are reaching more people than ever,” shares People Loving Nashville founder Ryan Lampa. “Our community is strong. We are partnering with other local outreaches to bring as many resources as we can to the streets. Nashville Street Barbers provide hair cuts, Shower Up is a mobile shower, Hope Clinic for Women, as well as bringing Bibles, prayer team with Vineyard Nashville and general needs through Project Nashville along with the Wild Indigo Program. We’ve also partnered with resources like Open Table Nashville to engage further on the cold weather response, and canvassing and supplying transportation for our most vulnerable friends. PLN also partners with Centerstone to provide a ‘fast track’ to our friends who suffer from addiction and mental illness getting them into the right hands as soon as possible. All of these partnerships are awesome, and we are looking forward to helping out so many more next year.”

ABOUT PEOPLE LOVING NASHVILLE: People Loving Nashville (PLN) is a diverse group of folks learning how to love well. They do this by meeting some of the basic needs of the poor, such as providing warm meals, distributing clothing and handing out hygiene products. PLN approaches ministry with a listening ear, working to cultivate friendships and build community with everyone they meet. The non-profit was birthed during Thanksgiving in 2008 when a group realized they had plenty to eat while others went hungry nearby. Unable to shake the discomfort and concern of this truth, the group found ourselves packing up hot meals to share with anyone they found surviving the streets of downtown Nashville. It wasn’t long before once a month turned into a weekly tradition of Monday evenings spent preparing a about a dozen meals. Soon the group moved their meal prep from a small two-burner kitchen in founder Ryan Lampa’s tiny bachelor pad to the to a larger kitchen space through Belmont Church church’s industrial kitchen and meeting space on Music Row. Since those early days making spaghetti in multiple crock pots and washing dishes in the shower of Ryan’s tiny carriage house, PLN has seen a lot of growth. Not only have they moved kitchens, but they’ve also moved our meeting place downtown to War Memorial, added clothing distribution, and provided other means of assistance throughout the years.
