To close out National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, local child advocacy groups—including Williamson County CASA and Davis House Child Advocacy Center—held a candlelight celebration at the Franklin Police Department on Tuesday, April 29 to honor and celebrate the lives of those children that the organizations serve.
A large crowd of community members, government officials and volunteers gathered to hear words from Davis House Executive Director Marcus Stamps, WCCASA Executive Director Marianne Schroer and WCCASA volunteer and advocate Carol Lewis. The ceremony included songs from Franklin’s New Hope Academy choir, and the crowd punctuated the evening by lighting candles in recognition of children affected by abuse and neglect, and those who serve them.
WCCASA served more than 300 children in Williamson County last year. For more information about Williamson County CASA and its mission, go to www.williamsoncountycasa.org.
