Street Dance
Franklin’s 26th annual Main Street Festival brings even more excitement this year with a special show headlining the Beer/Wine Garden stage on 4th Avenue South this year with a favorite local band, THE EXOTICS, playing under the tent from 8 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009.
Only 200 tickets will be sold for this special performance as a benefit to SAVE THE FRANKLIN THEATRE. The cost is $20 cover per person which includes two free drink tickets and tickets can be purchased in advance by calling with a credit card to Damon Rogers at 615-591-8500, Ext 11. Tickets will be held in Will Call on the evening of the performance.
Local home-boys who comprise The Exotics are Loy Hardcastle (drums), Billy Adair (lead guitar) and Glenn Crowell (bass guitar) along with Columbia keyboard & sax talent, Jeff Cook, and horn players Robert Early and Steve Smartt. The Exotics started out in 1964 as a high school combo with such a following that they continued as a group during college and have played throughout the South since their beginning. Their music consists of 60’s rock & roll, Motown, and all the wonderful oldies that were popular when they grew up. They still have quite the following when the “old crowd” gets together with their “offspring” to dance the night away at The Mercy Lounge in Nashville.
The Heritage Foundation received the call that The Exotics wanted to offer a fun and memorable evening to help raise funds for the pet project of saving the Franklin Theatre. This event is a rain or shine event and takes place under a tent, so only 200 tickets will be sold and it will be first come-first served by calling 615.591.8500 Ext 11.
The Main Street Festival is produced by The Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County and its division, the Downtown Franklin Association. For more information on the 2 day festival, visit www.historicfranklin.com.
