The Williamson County Child Advocacy Center provided holiday gifts to 45 children from 18 families this year through the Christmas Treasures Program.

The 3rd Annual Christmas Treasures Program consisted of a toy drive and a holiday party for clients of the WCCA, children who have suffered severe physical or sexual abuse. The public was asked to donate new, unwrapped gifts, monetary donations, or gift cards for children under the age of 18.

“We are so very appreciative of everyone in the community that donated a toy, sent a check, or supported us in any way,” said Kelly O’Connor, Executive Director of the WCCAC. “The holidays can be a stressful time for many but are particularly difficult for our families in need. In addition to worrying about putting food on the table, these families have been victimized by physical or sexual abuse. Through Christmas Treasures, we hope to ease some of their worries and help the families continue the healing process.”

Christmas Treasures Chair Kelly McMullen led the toy drive assisted by Nicole Lamb who spearheaded the Christmas party.  Both McMullen and Lamb are members of the Friends in Faith Sunday School Class at First Presbyterian Church, Nashville that adopted Christmas Treasures as a service project, provided volunteers and underwrote party expenses.

In addition to the Friends in Faith Sunday School Class at Nashville First Presbyterian Church,  the major participants of Christmas Treasures included: the FCCLA (led by Amy Hart) and DECA (led by Jackie Stephens) clubs at Page High School, FCCLA (led by Elizabeth McGinley) club at Independence High School, Billy Boyd at CiCi’s Pizza, Debra Foster with Williamson Medical Center, Will Honeycutt at Enterprise Rent a Car, and the Republican Women of Williamson County (led by Brenda Davis). Numerous members of the community supported the program through toy donations and financial contributions.
