New Scholarship to Recognize Service-Driven Students in Middle Tennessee

A new scholarship opportunity is now open for students across Middle Tennessee, created by Franklin native Joseph Altshuler with a focus on service, leadership, and character.

Altshuler, a 27-year-old realtor and member of the Franklin Noon Rotary Club, has introduced the Joseph Altshuler Realtor Community Scholarship, which will award one student each year. Applications are currently open, with a deadline of May 31st. The recipient will be announced on June 15th.

The scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students in Williamson County and the surrounding Middle Tennessee area, including homeschool students. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate community involvement, leadership, and a genuine commitment to improving their future.

The initiative is rooted in Altshuler’s upbringing in Franklin, where he was influenced by a strong example of service at home. His mother, Robin Altshuler, was known for her consistent involvement in the community through her work as a nurse, her leadership in the United Methodist Women’s Society, and her time with the Franklin Junior Auxiliary. Her approach to helping others left a lasting impression that continues to shape Altshuler’s priorities today.

With this scholarship, Altshuler is looking beyond academics alone. While a strong GPA is considered, the focus is on students who consistently show up for others, contribute to their communities, and lead by example.

The scholarship is designed to recognize students whose impact may not always be visible. It highlights those who serve quietly, put others first, and do the right thing without expecting recognition. Character, integrity, and compassion are central to the selection process, reflecting the kind of everyday actions that strengthen a community over time.

The scholarship is independently funded and will be awarded annually. Applications are available online at Joseph Altshuler Realty.
