Franklin, Tennessee Among Southern Living’s Best Cities in the South for 2026

Franklin, Tennessee continues to gain national attention, landing at No. 12 on Southern Living’s list of the Best Cities in the South for 2026.

The annual rankings are based on votes from more than 17,000 readers, who were asked to share their favorite destinations across the region. Cities are evaluated on factors like dining, shopping, and overall experience.

Franklin’s Continued Rise on Southern Living Rankings

Franklin’s placement just outside the top 10 reflects a steady climb in recognition. After years of appearing on lists of the best small cities, Franklin moved to Southern Living’s main list of the South’s Best Cities in 2025, where it ranked No. 14.

That momentum builds on earlier accolades, including a No. 2 ranking on Southern Living’s 2024 list of The South’s Best Cities on the Rise. Together, these rankings point to a broader shift. Franklin is no longer seen as just a day trip from Nashville, but as a destination with its own identity, shaped by its historic downtown, local businesses, and growing cultural scene.
