Nestled in the charming town of Leiper’s Fork, Patina Home & Garden was built on a simple yet powerful idea: design a life you love. Many visitors, both locals and tourists, stop into this home and garden destination, yet fewer know the inspiring story behind it. Married couple Brooke and Steve Giannetti have spent more than thirty years designing houses together. Today, they help others create beauty and meaning where it matters most—at home. They approach each project with intention, blending elegance with comfort. Their work creates spaces that feel timeless, refined, and deeply personal.
As designers, dreamers, and creators, they draw inspiration from nature, history, and daily life. Their love for animals and the natural world shapes both their lifestyle and design philosophy. They believe every home should feel connected to its surroundings. This perspective guides each decision, from materials to spatial design. Their work encourages a slower, more intentional way of living. Through their work, they continue to share this vision with a growing and engaged community.
Their story began in Ojai, California, where creativity shaped everyday life. Their careers expanded in Los Angeles and across many regions. They built a respected reputation in architecture and interior design. Still, a deeper purpose began to emerge. A project in Leiper’s Fork introduced a new perspective. The landscape, welcoming community, and slower pace left a lasting and meaningful impression.

From California Living to Tennessee Roots
Patina Home & Garden and Patina Meadow grew out of a meaningful transition between coasts and lifestyles. “We were spending more time in Tennessee and fell in love with Leiper’s Fork,” Brooke Giannetti said, reflecting on that shift. “We thought it was time for a change, and we found the land that would later become Patina Meadow,” she added. While the family purchased the land for Patina Meadow in 2022, Patina Home & Garden opened to the public first, later that same year in November. This sequence marked the start of a new chapter and laid the foundation for their evolving vision.
The move to Tennessee represented a deliberate lifestyle shift. Brooke and Steve, along with their daughter Leila, embraced the opportunity to live on the land that would eventually grow into Patina Meadow. The property featured a historic 1850s log house and open space for future plans. Living on the land allowed their ideas to expand beyond traditional design work, creating space for a more immersive, connected way of living.
As their vision developed, two complementary spaces took shape. Patina Meadow became a homestead and creative workspace, complete with gardens, animals, and later, gathering areas. The Shed opened in 2024 as a space for intimate public gatherings, events, and classes. Meanwhile, Patina Home & Garden offered a public expression of their aesthetic, featuring curated home and garden pieces alongside goods sourced from Patina Meadow. Today, the two spaces work in harmony, connecting the local community to a lifestyle shaped by nature, design, and intentional living.
Patina Home & Garden: A Curated Home and Garden Experience
A carefully curated shop space brings a distinct design philosophy to life. The environment showcases a wide range of offerings, including paintings, home décor, tableware, garden goods, candles, and so much more. Each category contributes to a cohesive and intentional aesthetic experience. Visitors encounter objects selected for beauty, function, and timeless appeal.
“We wanted it to be a home and garden store that reflected our aesthetic,” Brooke Giannetti said, describing the vision behind Patina Home & Garden. She explained their “patina style” as a blend of antiques and natural materials. She added that these materials age beautifully over time. This philosophy shapes every detail within the environment.
The shop became the first public expression of their creative vision. The destination functions as both a gathering place and a design showcase. Visitors experience a thoughtfully curated mix of home and garden elements throughout. A distinct aesthetic defines every display and selection. Natural materials, antiques, and aged finishes work together in harmony. Each item reflects a belief in beauty shaped by time and use.

A Commitment to Clean Living and Local Sourcing
The Giannettis also offer a farm shop with a strong focus on health and intentional living that shapes the curated offerings. Thoughtful sourcing guides every decision across the shop’s experience. The environment reflects a balance of beauty, wellness, and community connection. Products emphasize quality ingredients, natural processes, and regional partnerships can be found in their farm shop.
The shop focuses on healthy living. “We opened a farm shop so we could offer produce that Leila grows and flowers she grows,” Brooke Giannetti explained. She continued by highlighting local meats, including beef from Maple Valley Ranch and lamb from Franklin farms. She also noted local pasta, sauces, and honey as part of the selection.
The farm-inspired market strengthens the connection between land and community. Fresh produce and flowers grown on-site appear regularly in the offerings. Regional goods support nearby producers and artisans. Fresh sourdough arrives weekly from Nashville-based baker Baked & Free. Even non-local products follow strict clean standards without seed oils or unnecessary additives. Organic practices guide nearly every sourcing decision.
Future growth continues to expand the experience in meaningful ways. “We’re going to be building a small greenhouse in our courtyard, and offering Leila’s favorite soil amendments and worm castings, and she also grows plant starters. And so we’ll be offering those in the next few weeks,” Brooke Giannetti said. These additions, contributed by Leila Giannetti, deepen the commitment to sustainable gardening practices. The evolving space continues to blend nourishment, design, and connection to place.

Patina Home & Garden: Community Events and Seasonal Gatherings
Patina Home & Garden regularly hosts community events that bring people together. Seasonal celebrations create space for shared experiences and meaningful connection. These gatherings strengthen relationships within the local community and reflect a hospitality-driven philosophy rooted in intentional living.
“We also try to have different community events. For Mother’s Day, Leila is making a bunch of different vases, and we’re having a local florist, so you can find a vase and some flowers for mom,” Brooke Giannetti shared. She added that local children’s book author Gabrielle Waary will participate through readings and book signings of Sweet Dreams Franklin. These tender moments create meaningful family experiences rooted in creativity, artistry, and storytelling.
Father’s Day events introduce a different but equally intentional atmosphere. Brooke described “Whiskey, Watches and Wheels” as a featured celebration. The event includes vintage watches, men’s jewelry, classic cars, and whiskey tastings. Local partners bring curated collections and immersive experiences to the gathering. Each event reflects thoughtful planning and a refined sense of hospitality.
The Giannettis designed the space as more than a retail environment. It functions as a welcoming setting for conversation and connection. Visitors are encouraged to linger, engage, and participate. The Patina Growers Club reflects this philosophy in practice. Members gather to share knowledge about gardening and sustainable living. Meetings take place at both the store and the farm, strengthening community ties and shared purpose.

The Potterie: The Art of Pottery and Creative Expression
Located just south of Patina Home & Garden in Leiper’s Fork, Patina Meadow is the family’s farm. Located on Patina Meadow is The Potterie. Here, Leila Giannetti embraces pottery as a meaningful form of creative expression and community connection. Leila Giannetti first discovered pottery at a local studio in Ojai, California after returning home from college during COVID. That early experience sparked a lasting passion for working with clay. After moving to Tennessee, her interest grew into a hands-on teaching practice rooted in community and creativity.
“When we moved out here, I knew that was something that I really wanted to form. And so we started doing classes last January, and it’s been awesome,” Leila Giannetti shared. Pottery workshops take place every Friday. Each session begins with a demonstration before participants receive five balls of clay. She guides the process every step of the way, supporting each guest as they create freely. Finished pieces are ready for pickup in six to eight weeks at Patina Home & Garden.
Pottery now plays a central role in the broader Patina experience. The craft offers both creative exploration and personal growth through tactile learning. Weekly workshops developed in response to strong community interest. Participants experiment with form while learning foundational techniques. Each class encourages creativity, patience, and hands-on discovery.
Brooke Giannetti also highlighted creative collaborations, extending the pottery program. “We sell my friend Laura Cler’s Linnea candles,” She shared. Brooke explained, that soon, Leila will create ceramic vessels designed specifically for the candles. Laura will then transform them into finished candles filled with signature scents. “After you burn the candle, you have a beautiful vessel to do whatever you want,” Brooke added. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to craftsmanship, reuse, and thoughtful design.

The Shed: A Gathering Hub
Located on Patina Meadow, The Shed is a beautifully restored barn, anchoring much of the farm’s community life. This flexible structure serves as a versatile venue for workshops, meals, and seasonal events. It functions as the informal heart of activity across the property. Guests and community members gather here regularly to learn, share, and connect.
“That’s where we sometimes host our Patina Growers Club,” Leila Giannetti said, explaining its role. She added that family dinners and community dinners also take place in the space. Sourdough and canning classes have been hosted there as well. Leila described it as “sort of like the hub of the farm.” Like the pottery classes, The Shed supports a wide range of learning experiences.
Sourdough baking and canning workshops attract participants with shared interests in food and craft. Each class emphasizes practical skills and the value of traditional methods. Guests learn in a relaxed, collaborative environment that encourages participation. Community dinners further deepen this sense of connection. These gatherings invite conversation, storytelling, and shared experience. The setting fosters warmth, openness, and a strong sense of belonging.

Immersive Tours of Patina Meadow
Leila Giannetti also offers tours, inviting visitors into the heart of Patina Meadow. Each experience highlights the landscape, architecture, and guiding philosophy behind the property. Guests join a two-hour guided tour led by Leila, who shares the story and vision behind the farm. The experience blends design insight, natural beauty, and personal storytelling.
“When we lived in Ojai, we had a lot of interest from people who wanted to tour our farm,” Leila shared. She added that privacy initially limited access. After relocating to Tennessee, the demand for in-person visits grew. “We started hosting tours once construction began to settle,” she explained. Tours take place on the last Saturday of each month during favorable weather, typically from spring through fall. Private tours are also available upon request.
Each group remains small, usually around ten guests, to preserve an intimate experience. Visitors walk through the front of the property, the Bloomerie gardens, and the historic cabin. The tour also includes the Carriage House and glimpses of the farm’s animals. During the tour, Leila discusses the inspiration behind the design and the long-term vision for the land. She also shares details about future development and creative planning. This approach gives guests a transparent look into both process and purpose.
Tours offer a deeper connection to the land and its evolution. Guests explore curated landscapes, restored structures, and working farm spaces. Each stop reveals a layer of history, design, and intention. The experience encourages reflection on creativity, nature, and community. Visitors leave with a stronger understanding of the philosophy that shapes the entire property.

A Growing Collection of Books and Storytelling
The Giannettis extend their design philosophy beyond the property through a growing collection of published books. Brooke and Steve Giannetti have authored five books and are currently working on a sixth. Each publication documents a different layer of their journey in design, architecture, and lifestyle. Together, the series forms a cohesive narrative of creativity, place, and intentional living.
The first book, Patina Style, introduces their core design philosophy. It explores the use of natural materials, antique elements, and surfaces that age gracefully over time. The second book, Patina Farm, focuses on the creation of their original property in Ojai, California. It guides readers through the home, gardens, animals, and overall architectural vision. The third book, Patina Living, offers a deeper look at daily life on the farm. It highlights garden layouts, plant selections, and thoughtfully designed animal structures.
The fourth book, Patina Homes, expands the focus to include client projects alongside their own work. It showcases residential design across a range of settings. The fifth book, Patina Homes & Gardens, is the most recent release. It features multiple projects, including an early look at Patina Meadow before its completion. It also includes additional client homes, including a Nashville-area project in Green Hills. Each volume builds upon the last, deepening the overall design narrative.
A sixth book is currently in development and will focus entirely on Patina Meadow. “This new book will be called Patina Meadow, and it will give you more of a deep dive into what we do here and how we designed it, and just the whole story,” Brooke Giannetti shared. “It will be just one book dedicated to here,” she added. This upcoming volume continues their tradition of blending storytelling with visual inspiration. Readers can expect an in-depth exploration of landscape design, architecture, and daily life. This title, along with their previous works and other design-focused books, can be found at Patina Home & Garden.

The Patina Way of Life: A Vision Grounded in Nature and Community
At their core, Patina Home & Garden and Patina Meadow reflect a commitment to meaningful, intentional living. The Giannettis center their work on nature, beauty, and community. Every element, from design to daily operations, aligns with these guiding principles. The experience encourages visitors to slow down and engage more deeply with their surroundings.
“We were city people, and we really found a lot of healing being connected to nature,” Brooke Giannetti said, offering insight into this philosophy and its origins. She shared that this connection inspired them to open their lives on the farm to others. Their journey from Los Angeles to Ojai, and eventually Tennessee, shaped this perspective. Nature became both a creative influence and a source of personal renewal.
The community of Leiper’s Fork plays a vital role in this evolving story. Its warmth and authenticity continue to inspire growth and collaboration. Thoughtful design and shared experiences foster meaningful relationships among visitors and locals alike. The brand reflects more than a business; it represents a refined and grounded way of life. This vision continues to deepen its roots locally, strengthening connections across Leiper’s Fork and the greater Middle Tennessee community.
