Brighten Up Nashville Invites Community to Nominate Widows and Widowers for Heartwarming Valentine’s Day Gift Deliveries

Brighten Up Nashville Invites Community to Nominate Widows and Widowers for Heartwarming Valentine’s Day Gift Deliveries

Nominations for recipients open online now through Feb. 7

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 12, 2026) Brighten Up, a Nashville-based nonprofit dedicated to spreading love and joy throughout the Greater Nashville community, is thrilled to announce its fourth annual initiative to deliver fresh cut flower arrangements and gift bundles around Valentine’s Day to those who have lost a spouse. The organization invites the community to participate in this outreach by nominating widows and widowers – or renominating individuals they’ve remembered in previous years – who could benefit from a special delivery through its online submission form before Feb. 6, 2026. The deliveries will occur on Feb. 13.

“At Brighten Up, we believe Valentine’s Day is a time to remind everyone they’re loved and cared for, especially those who may be missing a late partner,” said Angie Hurst, founder of Brighten Up. “Our goal is to bring a little extra joy to widows in Nashville, letting them know they’re not forgotten on this often-challenging day.”

As the organization prepares for its fourth annual event, Hurst has set an ambitious goal of gifting floral arrangements and gift bags to 1,000 widows and widowers across the Greater Nashville area this Valentine’s Day. Achieving this milestone would more than double the impact of last year’s initiative, which brightened the holiday for 627 widows and 32 widowers in 2025.

Brighten Up is asking for support to make this year’s program a success. In addition to submitting nominations, individuals, businesses and organizations are encouraged to join hands with Brighten Up by volunteering to help arrange and deliver the flower arrangements the week of Feb. 9. Monetary donations are also needed in making this Valentine’s Day a little brighter for these deserving nominees and can be contributed through the Brighten Up website.

Brighten Up’s work is made possible by generous support from individuals in the community and organizations such as Long Hollow Gardens, Chef’s Market, Nashville Wraps, Cody Fry Music, Long Hollow Church, Leavitt Family Medical, Parthenon PR, The Scarlet Poppie, Jeff Roberts Agency, and Blackbird Media. Other area businesses or individuals who would like more information on supporting Brighten Up are encouraged to contact Hurst directly.
