CASS Contemporary unveils “GLEAM,” a reflective painting exhibition

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jan. 9, 2026 CASS Contemporary, Nashville’s newest high-end art gallery located in the bustling neighborhood of Wedgewood-Houston, announces “GLEAM,” a new group exhibition exploring light, reflection and perception through the lens of contemporary painting. This new showcase will open at the end of Tristan Eaton’s debut exhibit in Nashville, “Lately.” Launching Feb. 28, “GLEAM” features four acclaimed national and international artists: Alex Bacon, Drew Merritt, Leon Keer, and Vance.

Using specialized techniques and materials, the artists on display in GLEAM highlight compositions that emphasize both light absorption and reflection. As a whole, the exhibition underscores how each piece shifts and changes depending on the viewer’s position and the surrounding light, making perception an interactive and evolving experience. As viewers move through the gallery, each painting responds differently — subtle details emerge, surfaces transform and new visual relationships are revealed at every glance and vantage point. Rather than presenting a fixed image, “GLEAM” invites viewers to engage with each painting as a dynamic encounter shaped by movement, light and perspective.

Once again, CASS is enhancing the Nashville cultural scene with types of art that the city has yet to see, bringing unparalleled, world-renowned artistic talent to a destination most often celebrated for its music. Elevating contemporary art on the Nashville landscape is central to CASS’s mission, as “Music City” continues to evolve into a broader cultural hub that extends far beyond its country music roots.

“One of the best parts of our job is introducing people to artists, works and mediums they may not yet know,” said Jake Greatens, co-owner of CASS Contemporary. “This exhibition does that while also encouraging reflection, something that feels particularly relevant at the start of a new year — moving self-reflection forward through the vantage point and beauty of the works.”

“GLEAM” will be on display at CASS Contemporary from Feb. 28 (with a reception open to the public) through the final Saturday in April. This latest exhibition evidences the gallery’s continued commitment to presenting innovative contemporary artists who challenge traditional approaches to painting and materiality.
