Filmmakers in Franklin Presents: Disney’s The Lion King  

The Franklin Theatre is proud to offer this exclusive event offering screening, Q&A, and Meet & Greet, with special guest, Director Roger Allers.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 19, 2025) — SMC and Filmmakers in Franklin, a film event series hosted at the Franklin Theatre by actress Leah Allers, will host an exclusive screening of The Lion King on Saturday, August 23, at 11:00 a.m.

Making this Filmmakers in Franklin event a family affair, actress Leah Allers will host a screening of the 1994 classic with her father, Roger Allers, the film’s director and producer. Following the screening, guests will be treated to a rare question-and-answer session with Roger, with a meet-and-greet to follow.

Doors open 45 minutes before the show. Tickets are still available on The Franklin Theatre website.

About the Filmmaker: Roger Allers is an American film director, screenwriter, animator, storyboard artist, and playwright, best known for co-directing Disney’s “The Lion King” and writing its Broadway adaptation. He has also contributed to numerous other Disney animated features, including “Aladdin,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “The Little Mermaid”. Additionally, he directed the short film “The Little Matchgirl” and co-directed the animated feature “Open Season”.

About Leah Allers: Leah Allers was raised in the world of film by her father, Roger Allers, director of The Lion King, Roger Allers. After working in production for many years at Walt Disney Feature Animation, Leah pivoted to performing arts, starring in Disney’s national and international tour of AIDA, and she appeared on several TV shows including Days of Our Lives and Criminal Minds. Leah currently lives in Franklin, TN, where she works as a voiceover artist and a private voice coach, and is directing a documentary about the unsung artists of Disney Animation in the 1980s and 90s.
