Tennessee Whiskey Trail Hosts Dog Adoptions and Community Drives This August

This August, the Tennessee Whiskey Trail is bringing together whiskey lovers and pet enthusiasts for a celebration of National Dog Month. Throughout the month, select distilleries along the Trail will host on-site pet adoption events and/or supply drives in partnership with local animal shelters, helping dogs find forever homes while supporting the communities these distilleries call home.
The initiative builds on the Trail’s year-round Pawsport program, which links more than 20 distilleries across Tennessee that welcome four-legged visitors. Whether you’re traveling the state or just stopping by your neighborhood tasting room, the Pawsport makes it easy to plan a day out with your dog by your side.
In Nashville, Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery will hold a pet adoption event on Saturday, August 3rd, in partnership with Pittie in Pink, a local nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs in need. Guests can meet adoptable pups while sampling spirits and learning about the distillery’s rich history.
In Williamson County, Leiper’s Fork Distillery will collect pet supplies throughout the month of August to benefit Williamson County Animal Control. Visitors are encouraged to bring donations of food, toys, leashes, and other necessities to help local animals awaiting adoption.
Other participating distilleries across the state include:
- Brushy Mountain Distillery, 9182 TN-116, Petros, TN 37845, (423) 324-8687
- Old Forge Distillery, 170 Old Mill Ave, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863, (865) 774-4126
- Old Glory Distilling Co., 451 Alfred Thun Rd, Clarksville, TN 37040, (931) 919-2522
- Sugarlands Distilling Co., 805 Parkway, Gatlinburg, TN 37738, (865) 325-1355
Each location will host its own activities, from adoption events to collection drives.
To make the adoption experience even more special, every dog adopted during these events will go home with a Whiskey Wag Pack. These take-home bundles include food, toys, treats, and other supplies to help new pets settle in comfortably.
Founded in 2017 by the Tennessee Distillers Guild, the Tennessee Whiskey Trail celebrates the state’s signature spirit while connecting visitors to the people and places behind each bottle. With more than 30 stops spanning small craft distilleries and historic brands, the Trail offers a road map for exploring Tennessee’s whiskey heritage, and now, for supporting animal rescue efforts along the way.
Whether you come for the whiskey, the wagging tails, or both, this August is the perfect time to celebrate great spirits and help dogs find loving homes!
