Sonata Bank Promotes Two Members of the Leadership Team to the C-Suite 

Nathan Miller Becomes Chief Credit Officer and Brian Shaw Ascends to Chief Lending Officer

Brentwood, Tenn., – June 3, 2025 – Headquartered in Brentwood, Nashville’s fastest growing bank, Sonata Bank, announces it has promoted two members of its leadership team to executive roles in the C-Suite. Nathan Miller, formerly Senior Vice President and Senior Credit Officer, was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer. Brian Shaw who served as Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Manager, was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer. These leadership promotions strengthen the executive team at Sonata as the bank continues its strategic growth in commercial and industrial lending and deposits in Middle Tennessee.

Miller has 27 years of Nashville banking experience and joined Sonata at its formation as SVP and senior credit officer where he developed and executed the bank’s client-focused credit delivery strategy. As EVP and Chief Credit Officer, Miller focuses on maintaining strong credit quality in the loan portfolio. Most recently, he served as senior portfolio manager at First Horizon Bank and held similar positions at SunTrust Bank (now Truist) and Fifth Third Bank. He is an elder at Old Hickory Church of Christ, and is actively involved in Christmas for Kids, Inc., the National Eagle Scout Association and Tennessee 4-H Alumni Association. Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lipscomb University.

A native Nashvillian, Shaw joined Sonata as SVP and commercial banking manager in 2022. He has 25 years of commercial, retail and mortgage banking experience that he brings to his new role of EVP and Chief Lending Officer where he leads Sonata’s banking growth strategies, providing leadership to the commercial lending, treasury management and retail banking teams. Prior to Sonata, Shaw served as SVP commercial banking at Fourth Capital. Shaw held similar roles growing retail, mortgage and branch offices at Reliant Bank (now United Community Bank) and AmSouth Bank (now Regions) and Tennessee Bank & Trust. His community involvement spans leadership role for Luke 9:2 Ministries, Williamson, Inc., YMCA Brentwood, Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce, United Way and a former trustee at Southeastern School of Banking. He earned a Nashville Emerging Leaders Award in Financial Services. Shaw earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at Western Kentucky University and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.
