Franklin Special District celebrates exciting milestone for new Central Office

The district held ribbon-cutting ceremony with community members and partners to commemorate completion of new offices
Franklin, Tenn. — February 19, 2025 — Franklin Special District (FSD) today announced the official opening of its new 38,400-square-foot Central Office building to better serve families, employees and the larger Franklin community. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on February 6, 2025, at 8 a.m. to celebrate this significant milestone and was attended by district staff, board members, elected officials, partner representatives and community members.
Recognizing the growing need to bring together district employees who were holding space at schools across the district, FSD, alongside Wold Architects and Engineers, a local architectural and engineering firm with extensive education and office design expertise, created a modern, purpose-built Central Office designed to enhance collaboration, productivity and overall wellness. This new facility brings most district-wide personnel under one roof with two levels of thoughtfully designed workspaces, each strategically positioned to maximize natural light while supporting individual and collaborative work.
Beyond offices, the building features expansive, multi-functional areas, including a 2,800-square-foot assembly space with integrated audiovisual technology for School Board meetings and professional learning opportunities. An open-air courtyard fosters connection and creativity along with a kitchen and breakroom, a dedicated wellness area open to all FSD employees and ample loading and storage spaces to ensure a seamless and supportive work environment.
“Today marks a major milestone for Franklin Special as we open a space designed to enhance collaboration, innovation and connection,” said Dr. David Snowden, FSD Director of Schools. “By bringing our staff together under one roof in a thoughtfully designed space, we have created a more cohesive and purposeful work environment. Families and employees from across the district now have a central hub to connect with staff, seek guidance and have their concerns addressed with efficiency and care. This space is dedicated to our district’s promise of ‘Students first. Excellence always. No exceptions.’ This promise is inscribed on our walls to serve as a constant reminder that this space is dedicated to providing the highest quality education students can receive.”
The Central Office completion also includes the recent renovation of an existing metal building into a 12,400-square-foot FSD Facilities and Transportation Center. This building includes the facilities and transportation administrative offices, a drivers’ lounge, a meeting area, space and equipment for maintenance of vehicles, and generous storage.
“At Wold, our ultimate mission is to support the communities in which we live, work and play, and we could not be more grateful for our ongoing partnership with Franklin Special District that allows us to design spaces that bring this vision to life,” said Steve Griffin, principal at Wold Architects & Engineers. “This new office blends modern functionality with timeless design, creating a space that not only enhances efficiency and collaboration but also reflects Franklin’s rich architectural heritage. Seeing this project complete is incredibly rewarding, and we’re proud to support a district that values innovation, community and staff well-being.”
Along with the project’s design services by Wold, Nabholz served as the project’s construction manager.
“We are proud to see this vision become a reality, providing Franklin Special District with a modern, efficient space that will serve the community for years to come,” said John Strack, executive vice president of Nabholz. “This project represents our commitment to building strong, collaborative communities, and we look forward to seeing how the staff and other district leaders will benefit from the space for many years to come.”
The new Franklin Special District Central Office is located at 205 Eddy Lane, Franklin, TN 37064. The FSD Facilities and Transportation Center is located next door at 127 Reynolds Drive, Franklin, TN 37064.
