Tony Award-Wining “The Play That Goes Wrong” Comes to Franklin

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Get ready for nonstop laughs at Turner Theater! Studio Tenn presents the Tony Award-winning “The Play That Goes Wrong,” a disastrous play-within-a-play complete with collapsing sets, forgotten lines and unexpected surprises. This family-friendly comedy runs from March 6 through March 23, 2025, at The Factory at Franklin.
The story follows the calamitous misadventures of the Cornley University Drama Society as they attempt to stage a production of a 1920s whodunnit called “The Murder at Haversham Manor.” It doesn’t take long for things to go from bad to utterly disastrous with madcap mishaps.
“‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ is part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes and is guaranteed to leave you laughing,” said Patrick Cassidy, Artistic Director at Studio Tenn. “As you watch this drama society’s fictional world literally fall in on itself, you’ll find yourself asking: Will the actors make it to the final curtain call in one piece?”
“The Play That Goes Wrong” brings together a powerhouse cast and crew of returning favorites and exciting new faces. Making his return as Director and Costume Designer is the nationally acclaimed Matt Logan, one of Studio Tenn’s original founders who has worked on several recent productions. Others familiar to Studio Tenn audiences are Megan Murphy Chambers (Cabaret, Always…Patsy Cline, Steel Magnolias), Caleb Shore (It’s a Wonderful Life, A Live Radio Play; Cabaret), Brian Michael Jones (Little Shop of Horrors), Jennifer Whitcomb-Oliva (The Sound of Music, Little Shop of Horrors), Nat McIntyre (West Side Story), Philip David Black (The Sound of Music) and Garris Wimmer (Frankenstein). Mitchell Ryan Miller is set to make his highly anticipated Studio Tenn debut.
