Veterans Day is on November 11th and there are plenty of ways to commemorate the day in Franklin and Nashville, Tennessee. This is a day to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces and remember their sacrifices. Veterans Day Parade

The City of Franklin and local radio station WAKM AM-950’s Annual Veterans’ Day Parade will take place in downtown Franklin on November 10th at 11am. Traveling down Main Street, the parade will include Williamson County JROTC units, marching bands, and students from the Franklin Special School District. A reception for local veterans and their families will be held at the Williamson County Archives before the parade at 9am.

Dearest Pauline

A special Veterans Day performance of “Dearest Pauline: A Local WWII Healer Writes Home” will take place at The Franklin Theatre on November 11th at 7:30pm. The letters were written by Dr. Price Hope Duff, the stage play is by Paula Hope Blackman, and the original music is by Jordan Lehning and Caitlin Rose. In honor of Veterans Day, active and retired service members are invited to attend for free, so spend a night at the theater to commemorate the day. 

 

Veterans Day at Perry’s

Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille will be honoring United States veterans and active military with a complimentary pork chop when accompanied by a guest purchasing an entree on November 10th from 10:30am- 5pm. They will also be hosting a Veterans Day Early Dinner on November 11th from 4-6pm, with a 3-course Military Menu with six delicious options for each course at just $39.

Shelli Huether Veterans Day Honor Run

The Shelli Huether Veterans Day Honor Run will take place on November 11th at Granny White Park in Brentwood, with packet pick-up starting at 6:30am. In support of The National Guard Association of Tennessee and Lantern Lane Farm, this Veterans Day Honor Run, Walk, and Ruck is in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Shelli Huether of the Tennessee Air National Guard. Participants can choose between a 5k, 10k, or 8-hour marathon with cash prizes. Veterans and active military get 50% off. 

 

Harpeth Car Club Veterans Day Rally

The Harpeth Car Club will be commemorating the day with a Veterans Day Rally on November 11th from 7am- 2pm. This event will meet at the Global Motorsports Performance Center in Brentwood, Tennessee, before driving to the FCM Cares Car Show in Murfreesboro for an auction. The day will conclude at Cars on the Lawn in Franklin. Tickets are available now.

Field of Honor at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage

The 8th Annual Field of Honor will be taking place in honor of Veterans Day at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage from November 2nd- 12th. A panorama of American flags will be flying in formation at this breathtaking tribute. Each U.S. flag represents someone and shares a story – flags can be sponsored in honor of veterans. Stop by this patriotic display in honor of the veterans and active military members in your life. 

 

Military Appreciation Day at the Nashville Zoo

In partnership with Regions Bank, the Nashville Zoo invites United States military veterans, active military personnel, and their immediate families to receive free admission to the zoo on November 12th. Just show your military ID, veteran organization ID, discharge papers, or other official military identification in order to receive your free ticket! Military dependents must present official dependent ID cards if they are not accompanied by military personnel – normal parking fee still applies!

Military Appreciation Week at Lane Motor Museum

The Lane Motor Museum in Nashville will be offering free admission to all retired and active members of the United States military for their Military Appreciation week from November 9-13th! U.S. veterans and active members are invited to bring along up to 3 guests to enjoy free admission from 10am- 5pm- just show your military ID!
