Williamson County Public Library to Host Local Historian, Bill Carey

Local author and historian, Bill Carey, will speak about his new book, True Tales of Tennessee: Earthquake to Railroad, on May 22 at 5:30 p.m. at Williamson County Public Library.

The book contains more than 30 essays about Tennessee history from the early 1800s, including sections on David Crockett, James K. Polk, how Nashville became the state capitol (and how Williamson County’s state senator tried to stop it!), the first telegraph message ever received in Middle Tennessee, the construction of the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad, and much more.

Bill Carey writes a column for the Tennessee Magazine and is the author of several books, the best known of which is Fortunes Fiddles and Fried Chicken: A Nashville Business History.
