Elegy Coffee Announces Germantown Expansion
WELCOME TO GERMANTOWN
East Nashville’s favorite coffeeshop, Elegy Coffee announces today the official opening of its second location in Nashville’s trendy Germantown neighborhood. A third coffeeshop, located downtown in the One Nashville Place building also opened its doors earlier in the month on January 3rd, marking the beginning of new chapter for the Eyes & Ears Hospitality brand, which also operates popular East Nashville spot The Fox Bar & Cocktail Club, as it grows in 2023.
Following two years of success at their original location, Elegy’s team of founding members, including husband-and-wife duo Bryan and Lindsay Rushton, Andrew Cook and Patrick Hayes, is excited to welcome both regulars and new fans of the coffeeshop to Elegy Germantown, a 900-square-foot, indoor-outdoor café located in The Griff building, next door to The Optimist. Alongside Elegy’s most popular items, Germantown guests can expect unique coffee creations, modern Japanese architecture and menu innovations exclusively at the new location.
“Germantown is growing so rapidly that opening a spot there was a no brainer for us,” says Andrew Cook, co-owner of Elegy Coffee. “We felt like there was room in the neighborhood for another coffee purveyor, and we’re just happy we were able to have the opportunity to bring what we do across the river. Elegy Germantown gives us the chance to try things we’re unable to try in East, like an expanded food menu and indoor dining, offering a unique and memorable experience for our customers. With the opening of Elegy Downtown, we’re looking forward to further expanding our menu options and catering abilities as well, in addition to serving everyone working and visiting downtown Nashville.”
GERMANTOWN GOODNESS
Similar to the Inglewood location, Elegy Germantown serves Elegy’s high-quality espresso, Anchorhead coffee, clever seasonal specials, pastries from Dozen and specialty drinks like its Honey Bear Cold Brew and Black & White. The new location also features pour-overs, plus a soon-to-launch refreshed food menu with breakfast, brunch and lunch options that include signature toasts, biscuit sandwiches and hearty bowls such as the Farro Bowl made with farro, onion, fennel, mushroom, broccolini, shaved brussels sprout, egg and cashew cream or the Potato Bowl made with sweet potato, fingerling potato, poblano pepper, arugula, egg, and spicy sauce. Available for dine-in or grab-and-go, customers will also find several vegan and gluten-free options for the health conscious.
Sticking to its ethos for a better, more sustainable coffee experience, all of Elegy’s ingredients and syrups are made in-house or sourced organically and locally where possible.
MODERN MOCHA
The interior of Elegy Germantown was brought to life by local design firm Aberdeen Studio, who also designed Elegy East Nashville. Minimalistic, yet aesthetically pleasing, the bright and natural space features soft wooden tones, ambient modern lighting and rich greenery throughout. Fresh, white walls are the background for Aberdeen’s extensive custom woodworking accents, contrasting black appliances and shelving, a pop of sleek tiling behind the bar. Furnishings are modest and streamlined, offering a genuinely sophisticated experience with unpretentious style.
Drawing inspiration from modern Japanese interiors, designer Patrick Hayes, Elegy Coffee partner and founder of Aberdeen Studio, used clean, bright, simple lines and a neutral palette to achieve cohesion within Elegy Germantown.
“The space is peaceful, airy and light,” describes Hayes. “Rather than replicate Elegy East, we wanted to pivot and create an altogether different vibe. Influenced by Japanese architecture, the design intent was to take a compact space and make it feel as light and bright as possible while maintaining a sense of intimacy and balance. We wanted the space to inspire customers who come in to work, such as freelancers, writers or artists, and have a beautiful destination that felt like home to people.”
Other key features of the property include custom artwork by Amanda Soltis, shoji screens and floor-to-ceiling shelves holding lush green plants and Elegy-branded merchandise.
MORE TO SIP IN 2023
In addition to Elegy Germantown, the coffeeshop expanded to downtown Music City on January 3rd with a location at One Nashville Place in the former Anchorhead Coffee space. Elegy Coffee Downtown offers a similar menu to the Germantown location, bringing its signature premium coffee and localized selections to building tenants and downtown Nashville workers and visitors alike. The larger downtown space also allows Elegy Coffee to expand its in-house biscuit and pastry program, stocking each of its stores with additional goods in addition to fulfilling catering orders.
Elegy Coffee Germantown is located at 1390 Adams Street Suite 13, and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. with increased hours to follow. Elegy Coffee Downtown is located at 150 Fourth Avenue North and is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. with increased hours to follow.
