Better Business Bureau Names Three Local Winners of Spark Awards

Three businesses in Middle Tennessee were recently recognized by BBB serving Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky as winners of the annual Spark Awards.

The BBB Spark Awards, presented in partnership with WKRN, is an awards recognition program that celebrates emerging entrepreneurial businesses whose leaders demonstrate a high character level, generate a positive working culture, and engage with their community. To be eligible, the business owner must be 35 years old and under or have been in business for less than three years.

Winners of this year’s awards are Meal Prep Momma, Voces de Nashville, and Row House of Cool Springs. Each winner received a grant to assist with business expenses.

“This award is special because it allows us to recognize entrepreneurs in our service area. We know the first three to five years are the hardest. When we see an entrepreneur’s intentionality to be honest, trustworthy, and community-focused, we believe that should be recognized and celebrated,” says Robyn Householder, President, and CEO of BBB serving Middle TN and Southern KY.

First place winner is Meal Prep Momma. The business is located in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and owned by Brandie Barber. Her casual restaurant specializes in meal preparation services for those with special diets and health goals. “I couldn’t help but cry when presented with this honor. I’ve put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this restaurant in one short year! I am thankful for the recognition for generating an authentic culture true to our mission and connecting on a deeper level without community,” said Brandie Barber

Second place winner, Voces de Nashville, started by Becca Blank, is a member-owned cooperated founded for women by women. The business focuses on empowering women with the tools needed to teach Spanish classes to adults in Nashville. “We love helping the people of Nashville, and this award and grant will help us to continue the great work we are doing locally,” said Becca Blank.

Third-place winner, Row House of Cool Springs is owned by husband-and-wife duo, Chad and Shelley Ramsey. Row House offers a group fitness environment for low impact, high energy workout that brings the camaraderie and drives fostered by the sport of rowing. The Ramsey’s were humbled by the recognition “It’s an honor. “We know there are many great businesses out there setting the standards, so to be considered among one of those is a privilege,” said Chad Ramsey.

The BBB Spark Award is the only award in North America. The award was started to a gap that BBB identified in the marketplace. Early-stage entrepreneurs and new business owners that demonstrated trust had no recognition platform. Since the inception of the Spark Awards, many entrepreneurs have received the recognition they deserve.
